Terms & Conditions

1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Jobmates platform, operated by Jobmates Pty Ltd ("Jobmates", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use Jobmates.

2. Eligibility

To use Jobmates, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have a valid Australian work visa or right to work in Australia (or be seeking such)
  • Provide accurate and truthful information during registration
  • Not have a previously suspended or banned Jobmates account

3. User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify us immediately at support@jobmates.com.au if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

You must not share, sell, or transfer your account to any other person.

4. Subscriptions & Payments

4.1 Subscription Plans

Jobmates offers paid subscription plans for users. Details of current plans, pricing, and features are available on our pricing page. All prices are in Australian Dollars (AUD) and include GST where applicable.

4.2 Billing

Subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, as selected). You authorise Jobmates to charge your nominated payment method at the start of each billing period.

4.3 Cancellation & Refunds

You may cancel your subscription at any time via your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods, except where required by Australian Consumer Law.

4.4 Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 to the Competition and Consumer Act 2010).

5. Employer Reviews

5.1 Verified Reviews Only

Jobmates operates a verified review system. You may only submit a review for an employer for whom you have genuine, verifiable work experience. Submitting false or fabricated reviews is strictly prohibited and may result in immediate account suspension and legal action.

5.2 Verification Process

To submit a review, you must upload a payslip as proof of employment. By uploading a payslip, you confirm that:

  • The payslip relates to genuine work you performed for the employer
  • You have the right to use and submit this document
  • You consent to our extraction of the specified employment data fields (see Privacy Policy)
  • You understand the original payslip file will be deleted after verification

5.3 Review Content Guidelines

Your reviews must:

  • Be based on your genuine, first-hand experience
  • Be factual, honest, and constructive
  • Not contain defamatory, discriminatory, or misleading statements
  • Not identify other individual employees by name
  • Not include personal information about third parties
  • Not contain spam, advertising, or promotional content

5.4 Moderation

All reviews are subject to automated screening and manual moderation before publication. Jobmates reserves the right to reject, edit, or remove any review that violates these Terms or our community guidelines, at our sole discretion.

5.5 No Liability for Review Content

Jobmates acts as a platform intermediary. We are not the author of user-submitted reviews and, to the maximum extent permitted by law, are not liable for the content of reviews published on the platform. Each user is solely responsible for the content they submit.

6. Prohibited Conduct

You must not:

  • Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information
  • Upload documents you do not have permission to share
  • Harass, defame, or intimidate employers, other users, or Jobmates staff
  • Attempt to manipulate or game the review or rating system
  • Use the platform for any unlawful purpose
  • Scrape, copy, or reproduce platform content without written permission
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems

7. Intellectual Property

All platform content, branding, design, software, and features are owned by Jobmates Pty Ltd or its licensors. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the platform for its intended personal purpose.

User-submitted content (reviews, profile information) remains your property. By submitting content, you grant Jobmates a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, distribute, and use your content on the platform and in promotional materials.

8. Termination & Suspension

Jobmates may suspend or terminate your account at any time without prior notice if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms. You may also delete your account at any time via your account settings.

Upon account deletion, all personal information associated with your account will be permanently removed within 30 days. Reviews you have submitted will be retained on the platform in fully anonymised form and will no longer be linked to your identity. This is necessary to preserve the integrity and usefulness of the platform for the broader community.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, Jobmates is not liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss or damage
  • Loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business opportunity
  • Reliance on employer reviews published on the platform
  • Decisions made by employers or users based on platform information

Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of these Terms shall not exceed the total subscription fees you have paid to Jobmates in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Disclaimer

The Jobmates platform is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that the platform will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that employer information is complete or accurate. Jobmates does not endorse any employer listed on the platform.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia. For consumer disputes, you may also have access to state-based consumer tribunals.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or via notice on the platform at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of Jobmates after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
